H2OGO Ball Arrives At Roundtop!

February 28, 2009

What The Heck Is An Ogo Ball?

An OGO ball is a ball who’s name stands for Outdoor Gravity Orb. The H2Ogo Ball came to Ski Roundtop today at 10 AM in the back of a pick up truck.ogo1

Ogo ball riding is the latest adventure activity. The OGO is a ten foot ball with a six foot ball inside that is used to ride down hills.  Imagine being in a hampster ball sized for humans you will have a good idea of a OGO.

2 Ways To Ride A OGO

The H2OGO has five to ten gallons of water inside and up to three people dive into the ball and ride down the hill for one of the craziest experiences ever. It is like being inside a washing machine and a roller coaster at the same time. Mom, Dad, and a kid could all get inside an OGO at once. Riders for the most part stay heads up inside as the water always stays “on the ground”.  Chris, the OGO inventor gave us a demo today on the snow. ogo2

The second way to ride the OGO is to get strapped into a harness then as you go down the hill you flip head over heals, seeing grass, sky, grass, sky as you ride down hill. There are one person OGO called a 1GO and two person OGO called a WEGO. The ride may seem like orbiting in space.ogo3

Amesbury Sports Park

The first OGO Park in the United States has been constructed and is currently open just north of Boston in Massachusetts, at The Amesbury Sports Park.  The Ski Roundtop Ogo run will be on the Cannon Ball Run, Tubing Slope. There are only 8 OGO balls in the United States.

A Cold Day For H2OGO

Today was a cold day for water ogo but Chris got in and rolled down tubing with an amazed audience of tubers watching.ogotop First we had to clear the run, then Chris put on his bathing suit and jumped in and away he went. Of course this is not really a Winter sport! H2OGO will be our demo OGO ball. Next week we are taking it to the Parks And Recreation Expo.ogo5

Chris dumped the water out and is drying off.

How Do You Tube In The Summer?

February 25, 2009

How Summer Tubing Works

This is a question I am being asked frequently these days from both customers and employees. Summer tubing or dry tubing works almost the same as snow tubing.

A peice of sheeting is fastened to the slope. The edges of the sheeting are raised and the centers are slightly lower to help keep the tubes and their riders on track just like snow tubing. The tracks and or sheeting are made from low friction synthetic carpets, called Tubby tracks. The carpets or sheeting have the same slippery properties as snow. The tubes used on the slopes in the winter have an added shell lining attached to the underside to help them glide down the track. That is how Summer tubing works.

Europe Summer Skiing

In Europe Summer skiing is popular using the same technique. More and more North American ski and snow tube locations are using tubing to increase off season revenues. Ski Roundtop will have tubing as only one of several features offered in the Mountain Adventures Park.
